Allocoenia plana was named by Beauvais (1972) [(Holotype)]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is MNHN-F-B47163. Its type locality is Saint-Gaultier, Creuse Valley, which is in a Bathonian perireef or subreef limestone in France.
