Diapria was named by Latreille (1796). It is extant. It is the type genus of Diapriae, Diapriinae, Diapriini.
It was assigned to Hymenoptera by Latreille (1796); to Proctotrupii by Latreille (1802); to Diapriidae by Carpenter (1992); to Diapriini by Ashmead (1893) and Masner and García (2002); and to Diapriinae by Perrichot and Nel (2008).
