Taxonomy
Isculites was named by Mojsisovics (1886) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-l Tr Anis-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Clydonites hauerinus. It is the type genus of Isculitidae.

It was assigned to Haloritidae by Smith (1927); to Isculitidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
