Anisarcestes was named by Kittl (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Arcestes (Pararcestes) subdimidiatus.
It was assigned to Arcestidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
