Apleuroceras was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ceratites sturi.
It was assigned to Aplococeratidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
