Elliotsmithia longiceps

Taxonomy
Elliotsmithia longiceps was named by Broom (1937). Its type specimen is TM 1483, a partial skeleton (skull and mandibles with most of the antorbital region missing, incl. partial hyoid apparatus, cervical vertebrae, ribs fragments and osteoderms), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Abrahamskraal, Prince Albert, which is in a Capitanian floodplain sandstone/claystone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
