Taxonomy
Choristoceras was named by Hauer (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-u Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is the type genus of Choristocerataceae.
It was assigned to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Choristoceratidae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1979), Tozer (1981), Tozer (1994) and Riccardi (2019).
