Taxonomy
Arca aurita was named by Brocchi (1814). It is extant.

It was recombined as Limopsis aurita by Sassi (1827) and Wood (1850); it was recombined as Limopsis (Limopsis) aurita by Schnetler and Palm (2008) and Moths et al. (2010).
