Daphnites was named by Mojsisovics (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Arpaditidae by Spath (1951); to Thisbitidae by Tozer (1981); to Clydonitidae by Tatzreiter (1981); to Parathisbitidae by Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
