Discoceratites was named by Schrammen (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ceratites intermedius.

It was assigned to Ceratitidae by Spath (1934); to Ceratitinae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
