Taxonomy
Mesomorpha newpassensis was named by Roniewicz and Stanley (1998). Its type specimen is UMIP 18070 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed SC20(1), South Canyon, New Pass Range, which is in a Longobardian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Augusta Formation of Nevada.
