Taxonomy
Epigymnites was named by Diener (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Gymnites ecki.

It was assigned to Gymnitidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
