Taxonomy
Eremites was named by Mojsisovics (1893) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Trachyceras orientale.

It was assigned to Buchitidae by Spath (1951); to Sandlingitidae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
