Eudiscoceras was named by Hyatt (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Eudiscoceras gabbi.

It was assigned to Ceratitidae by Spath (1951); to Beyrichitinae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
