Taxonomy
Sakalavicyathus collignoni was named by Alloiteau (1958). Its type locality is Mitsinjo, which is in a Maastrichtian marine horizon in Madagascar.

It was recombined as Palaeopsammia collignoni by Baron-Szabo (2008).
