Taxonomy
Paracyathus lloydi was named by Vaughan (1920). Its type locality is Kayser-Leith area, which is in a Maastrichtian coastal shale/limestone in the Lance Formation of North Dakota.

It was recombined as Bathycyathus lloydi by Baron-Szabo (2008).
