Orthotheca daulis was named by Walcott (1905) [COMMENTS: Morphology of the type does not suggest affinity to Hyolitha. Better preserved specimens may show that this species should be excluded completely from the Hyolitha. TYPE SPECIMEN: = lectotype. TAPHONOMY: Both specimens of this species are steinkerns with scattered fragments of apparently weathered shell adhering to them.]. Its type specimen is USNM 57809-A, a shell, and it is a mold.
