Taxonomy
Hedenstroemia was named by Waagen (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is the type genus of Hedenstroemiidae.

It was assigned to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hedenstroemiidae by Tozer (1981), Tozer (1994) and Brayard et al. (2013).
