Taxonomy
Heraclites was named by Mojsisovics [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Ammonites robustus. It is the type genus of Heraclitidae.

It was assigned to Heraclitidae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
