Taxonomy
Baksanophyllia cylindrica was named by Kusmicheva (1972). Its type locality is Mezhgor'ye, which is in a Berriasian reef, buildup or bioherm claystone/reef rocks in Ukraine. It is the type species of Baksanophyllia.

It was recombined as Parasynastraea cylindrica by Baron-Szabo (2002).
