Taxonomy
Periploma cuspidatum was named by Whiteaves (1884) [TYPE SPECIMEN: First syntype listed was used for dimensions.]. Its type specimen is CGS 4949, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Meekia (Mygallia) cuspidata by Saul and Popenoe (1962).
