Khvalynites was named by Shevyrev (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Khvalynitinae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
