Metahedenstroemia was named by Spath (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Noritidea by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
