Procolophonomorpha

Reptilia -

Taxonomy
Procolophonomorpha was named by Romer (1964) [Originally erected to replace the Diadectomorpha. Thus the original rank might be suborder, although not stated explicitly. Whether the group is extinct or not depends on exclusion or inclusion of turtles, respectively.].

It was reranked as the superorder Procolophonomorpha by Ivakhnenko (2008); it was reranked as the unranked clade Procolophonomorpha by Lee (1995), Lee (1997), Modesto (2000) and Reisz et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Cotylosauria by Romer (1964); to Parareptilia by Ivakhnenko (2008); and to Parareptilia by Lee (1995), Lee (1997), Modesto (2000) and Reisz et al. (2014).

If no rank is listed, the taxon is considered an unranked clade in modern classifications. Ranks may be repeated or presented in the wrong order because authors working on different parts of the classification may disagree about how to rank taxa.
