Taxonomy
Nannites was named by Mojsisovics (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Goniatites spurius. It is the type genus of Nannitidae.

It was assigned to Nannitidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
