Taxonomy
Nitanoceras was named by McLearn (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Arcestes selwyni.

It was assigned to Megaphyllitidae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
