Taxonomy
Noetlingites was named by Hyatt (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Ammonites strombecki. It is the type genus of Noetlingitinae.

It was assigned to Hungaritidae by Hyatt (1900) and Spath (1951); to Noetlingitinae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
