Palaeokazachstanites was named by Zakharov (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nm Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Wyomingites ussuriensis.

It was assigned to Olenikitidae by Zakharov (1978); to Meekoceratinae by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Flemingitidae by Shigeta and Zakharov (2009).
