Kloedenellacea was named by Ulrich and Bassler (1908).

It was corrected as Kloedenioidea by Abushik (2015); it was corrected as Kloedenelloidea by Liebau (2005), Crasquin (2008), Zazzali et al. (2015) and Tanaka (2018).

It was assigned to Platycopida by Liebau (2005); to Beyrichicopina by Abushik (2015); and to Kloedenellocopina by Benson et al. (1961), Kozur (1985), Crasquin (2008), Zazzali et al. (2015) and Tanaka (2018).
