Parajuvavites was named by Mojsisovics (1896) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Parajuvavites blanfordi.

It was assigned to Haloritinae by Tozer (1981); to Haloritidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
