Michelinoceras avelinii
Taxonomy
Orthoceras avelinii was named by Salter (1854). Its type specimen is BGS GSM 59434 (lectotype), a shell, and it is a cast. Its type locality is Cefn Gunthly, which is in an Abereiddian offshore shale in the Hope Shale Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Michelinoceras avelinii by Evans (2005).
