Paraspidites was named by Spath (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nm Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Paranoritidae by Spath (1934); to Proptychitinae by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proptychitidae by Brühwiler and Bucher (2012).
