Schizodus rotundatus

Taxonomy
Axinus rotundatus was named by Brown (1839). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Newtown, River Irk, Bed 8, which is in a Wuchiapingian shallow subtidal packstone in the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized subjectively with Schizodus schlotheimi by Geinitz (1861) and Logan (1967); it was synonymized subjectively with Schizodus obscurus by Pattison (1970); it was recombined as Schizodus rotundatus by King (1850), Waagen (1881), Frech (1911), Diener (1915), Riedel (1917), Muromtseva (1981) and Muromtseva and Guskov (1984).
