It was reranked as the tribe Crouzeliini by Harrison and Gu (1999).
It was assigned to Pliopithecinae by Harrison and Gu (1999); to Crouzeliidae by Begun (2002); and to Pliopithecidae by Harrison et al. (1991), Moyà‐Solà et al. (2001) and Alba and Moyà-Solà (2012).
