Pleuronodoceras was named by Zhao and Liang (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Pleuronodoceras dushanense.
It was assigned to Pseudotirolitidae by Leonova (2002); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pleuronodoceratidae by Korn (2006).
