Taxonomy
Synastrea adkinsi was named by Wells (1934). Its type locality is Catadupa, "Catadupa Beds", which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian shallow subtidal limestone in the "Catadupa Beds" Formation of Jamaica.
It was recombined as Siderastrea adkinsi by Schafhauser et al. (2003).
