Taxonomy
Petilavenula varifurcata was named by Cope (2005). Its type locality is Dan-Ian-y-Castell Farm, Llangynog, which is in a Moridunian coastal mudstone in the Ogof Hen Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Petilavenula.
