Taxonomy

Porites reussiana was named by Duncan (1865).

It was recombined as Goniopora reussiana by Wells (1934).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

G. andersoni, G. gajensis, G. grandis

Synonyms

Goniopora taberi was named by Wells (1934). Its type locality is Loma Calixto, Camagüey, which is in an Eocene shallow subtidal limestone in Cuba.

It was synonymized subjectively with Goniopora reussiana by Baron-Szabo (2008).
Goniopora trechmanni was named by Wells (1934). Its type locality is Catadupa, "Catadupa Beds", which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian shallow subtidal limestone in the "Catadupa Beds" Formation of Jamaica.

It was synonymized subjectively with Goniopora reussiana by Baron-Szabo (2008).
