Pseudocardioceras was named by Tozer (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Waldthausenites idunae.

It was assigned to Juvavitinae by Tozer (1981); to Juvavitidae by Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
