Taxonomy
Pseudocarnites was named by Simionescu (1913) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Pseudocarnites arthaberi.

It was assigned to Carnitidae by Spath (1951) and Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
