Pseudothetidites was named by Jeannet (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302].

It was assigned to Clydonitidae by Tatzreiter (1981); to Thetiditidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
