Taxonomy
Desmoceras clypealoides was named by Leonhard (1897). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Tragodesmoceras.

It was recombined as Tragodesmoceras clypealoides by Spath (1922), Cobban and Hook (1983) and Ifrim and Stinnesbeck (2007).
