Taxonomy
Rhabdoceras was named by Hauer (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-u Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Rhabdoceras suessi. It is the type genus of Rhabdoceratidae.

It was assigned to Rhabdoceratidae by Tozer (1979), Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Choristoceratidae by Spath (1951) and Riccardi (2019).
