Taxonomy
Sageceras was named by Mojsisovics (1873) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Sageceratidae.

It was assigned to Sageceratidae by Tozer (1981); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
