Taxonomy
Semiornites was named by Arthaber (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Trachyceras cordevolicum.

It was reranked as Ceratites (Semiornites) by Arthaber (1915).

It was assigned to Ceratites by Arthaber (1915); to Ceratitidae by Spath (1934) and Kotański (1973); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Paraceratitinae by Tozer (1981) and Vörös (2018).
