Stacheites was named by Kittl (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Stacheites prionoides.
It was assigned to Ceratitidae by Kittl (1903); to Meekoceratidae by Spath (1934) and Kummel (1969); to Dinaritinae by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dinaritidae by Guex et al. (2010).
