Acanthoceras justinae was named by Hill (1893) [DISTRIBUTION; Aptian; North America.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Dufrenoya justinae by Stoyanow (1949); it was recombined as Dufrenoyia justinae by Renz (1982) and Barragán and Maurrasse (2008).
