Taxonomy
Liaotungoceras was named by Shimizu and Obata (1936). It is not extant. Its type is Piloceras manchuriense.

It was synonymized subjectively with Manchuroceras by Hook and Flower (1977).

It was assigned to Piloceratidae by Ulrich et al. (1943).
