Taxonomy
Sturia was named by Mojsisovics (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Amaltheus sansovinii. It is the type genus of Sturiidae.

It was assigned to Ptychitidae by Spath (1951); to Sturiidae by Tozer (1981) and Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
