Sturia was named by von Mojsisovics (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Ptychitinae by von Mojsisovics (1882); to Ptychitidae by Spath (1951), Kummel (1960) and Creutzburg et al. (1966); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sturiidae by Tozer (1981), Fantini Sestini (1994), Tozer (1994) and Brayard et al. (2009).
